The COVID-19 pandemic has forced many health programs to minimize face to face interactions between clients and providers and de-congest health facilities. This has catalyzed the implementation of solutions to persistent health system challenges such as difficulty accessing care, disruptions in public transport due to lock downs, costs to clients, high client volumes, long waiting times, uncoordinated care (often provided in silos) and low retention which negatively impact health outcomes. Particularly among key and vulnerable populations, such as, adolescent girls and young women (AGYW), males who have sex with males (MSM) and transgender women (TGW). Digital health innovations have the potential to address these systemic gaps and challenges in order to provide affordable, client centered, integrated healthcare and bringing us closer to achieving key health outcomes and the goal of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).<br>The session sponsored by UNITAID will highlight the digital innovations used to reach AGYW, MSM and TGW to overcome challenges to demand for, and access to oral PrEP and provide linkage to services with a focus on pre-exposure prophylaxis for HIV prevention in the context of COVID-19. Speakers will share innovations that have been used in order to address social, structural and health system barriers faced by key and vulnerable populations. Speakers will explore the utility and scalability of digital innovations, such as, mobile applications, interactive websites, human centered social media platforms and artificial intelligence (chatbots).
